[music |the rise - the fallacy of retrospective determinism]

so coheed and cambria kicked some ass. but the opening bands were not so awesome, there was this fucking prog band three there god they were bad. the guy played an ovation with a steel arch and it sounded like crap when you could hear it over their TWO drummers....the second drummer played a stand up set and also played a Moog and it was really lame. then the detachment kit played, their music was ok but the guy was an asshole. then the straylight run played and they were emoish but not bad, not bad, i just wanted to see coheed. and like 30 people left after the straylight run set, which i just didn't understand. then COHEED!!!
we've determined claudio is a bear who was raised as a human. and his voice is just naturally high and soft, it's so crazy. it's not that he has range and just sings way up high; it's like that all the time. fucking awesome. they rocked out but didn't play three evils. oh well.

[music |against me! - you look like i need a drink]

ok so i'm trolling the against me! boards and i see these kids bitching about tom smashing a guitar in detroit. and even though this guy is obviously an ass, everyone goes to bash him for being either wrong in his opinion that this action is unnecessarily rockstar and unbecoming of against me! OR they bash him for being right, and telling them something they don't want to hear.

sometimes people are just fuckers. especially when it comes to punk rock. this shit is so stupid;

1 - no one argues about whether or not Muddy Waters is blues, nobody argues whether or not Madonna is pop. People argue about bands being punk or not.

2 - there are maybe 12 people in the history of punk rock who A) know what they're talking about B) actually live their politics and beliefs and C) contribute positively to the human race.

3 - there is no number three. punk is dead. it still pisses me off though.

[music |radiohead - fake plastic trees]

i am convinced that no one reads this.

well i'm in the gunsnaps. we practice tomorrow and we show on the 15th. there's something about soup in there too, i dunno. mylife is awfully hard.

i was reading this book about radiohead, and they said fuck you to their label when recording the bends, and for ok computer they spent months trying to perfect a certain sound. that sounds fucking awesome. i'm gonna be in a band the minute i eliminate my restrictions. that is the epitome of beauty, just making music. but it's a fucking battle from here on in, so stay tuned. see if i make it.

humm...

i need a solo band

[music |against me! - cliche guevara]

i love giving in to american capitalism, i am the proud owner of an iPod, and people will tell you it's escapist to just listen to music all day and nod and that's it, but it's not. it's better than dealing with most shit. i think and operate better when it's just me and my thoughts, and my thoughts are most clear when someone is screaming politically charged intellectually appealing lyrics into my ears. and when i'm thinking you can be guaranteed i'm thinking against the system.
and on that note, i hate when people judge me that way because i give in to american capitalism of necessity for stuff like a winter coat, food, and a guitar. BUT i use resources like those to FIGHT american capitalism; in this way i recomp for my actions, even if they are not justified. the only way to completely not participate in american capitalism is to adopt an escapist ideology by default, and escapism is willful ignorance and that's far worse.
